The Big read
I realized I should post my list for TBR as well! I got the "book of books" quite some time ago as a gift, and tried some of the books listed, and liked a lot of them...
On the following list, the book with dates after 'em was read as part of my mission 101.
1. The Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkien (a classic - given the cultural impact this has had, I think everyone should give this book a try)2. Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen (14.1.2008 - lived up to expectations)3. His Dark Materials, Philip Pullman (great book that I got from a cousin, a bit before it got popular)4. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams (Read it as a ten-year-old and loved it then)5. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, JK Rowling (I liked the third better)6. To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee (10.2.2009 - I was lukewarm about this, but very positively surprised)
7. Winnie the Pooh, AA Milne (Read it as a kid, but never in english)8. Nineteen Eighty-Four, George Orwell (this book is love)
9. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, CS Lewis (another never read in English)10. Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë (20.11.2008, a pageturner)11. Catch-22, Joseph Heller (meh, not that good)
12. Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontë
13. Birdsong, Sebastian Faulks
14. Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier15. The Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger (10.1.2009)
16. The Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Grahame (never in English)17. Great Expectations, Charles Dickens (Read as a part of English class. I was the only one to read the actual book, and not the penguin short version)18. Little Women, Louisa May Alcott (2.2.2009 - This was sweet and an easy read)
19. Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Louis de Bernieres20. War and Peace, Leo Tolstoy (9.11.2008, brilliant in parts, boring in others. Brilliance outweighted boring.)
21. Gone with the Wind, Margaret Mitchell22. Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone, JK Rowling (My mom got me this, was highly sceptical, the devoured the whole thing. Also, one of the first books I read in English)23. Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, JK Rowling (My least favourite HP novel)24. Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, JK Rowling (An early favourite, but the three last ones are better)25. The Hobbit, JRR Tolkien (Childhood memories)
